Logically wins AEGIS Graham Bell Award for Innovation in Artificial Intelligence

Feb 26, 2021

We are proud to announce that Logically has been awarded the 11th Annual AEGIS Graham Bell Award for the category Innovation in Artificial Intelligence for its work in developing advanced AI to help combat misinformation during the 2019 elections in India.

The award was created by The Aegis School of Business, Data Science and Cyber Security to promote and recognise the outstanding contributions of innovators, and is supported by the Government of India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

By the time of the 2019 Indian elections, Logically had spent over two years developing advanced solutions to detect misinformation and prevent its spread. Our monitoring and analytical capabilities were particularly well suited to support federal and state governments to enhance their election integrity efforts.

Logically analysed over 900,000 articles during the Indian General Election, detecting 50,000 unreliable articles. We also partnered with Mumbai Cyber Police ahead of the state Maharashtra Elections to set up a war room to help identify and flag any misleading information that was circulating. The initiative proved its effectiveness in an ever-changing landscape and is currently being scaled throughout the rest of India.

Sagar Kaul, Vice President Operations - India, said:

“We are honoured to have been recognised for our work combatting misinformation by such a prestigious organisation. We remain committed to our mission to enhance civic discourse and promote information integrity, and look forward to continuing to develop advanced AI tools to support critical national events such as elections from interference.”
