Australian-born, New York-based entertainer Karen Jacobsen's voice is currently being used as Google Maps and Apple's assistant Siri's voice. Karen Jacobsen, famously known as the GPS girl, is an Australian-born artist who lives in New York. In the year 2002, Karen was asked to audition for a client looking for a native Australian female voice artist living in the North-Eastern United States. She took the job and auditioned for over 50 hours. Later, her voice was used in Apple's voice assistant as well as in Google Maps. Currently, there are over one billion devices with GPS and smartphones guided by Karen's voice worldwide.
Karen Jacobsen is a native of Mackay, Queensland in Australia who moved to New York at the age of seven. She wanted to be a professional singer and songwriter.
