Bhaskar Bhattacharya left the BJP party as he was not nominated to contest the election from Champdani or Serampore.Following the announcement of BJP candidates for the upcoming 2021 assembly elections, protests demanding a change of candidates from several seats are going on in West Bengal. Meanwhile, Bhaskar Bhattacharya, former BJP president of Serampore, tendered his resignation to the party chief. According to inside sources in the party, he wanted to be a candidate in Champdani or Serampore. In his resignation letter, Bhaskar reportedly wrote that he had been associated with the BJP for the last 21 years, and his last resort was to contest in the Assembly elections from the Champdani or Serampore. But the party considered him incompetent from these two places, so he freed himself from all responsibilities.
We mark the claim as misleading as Bhaskar had quit the BJP party and not politics. Neither has he hinted about a possible retirement from politics nor has he joined another party at the time of writing.
