Vladimir Putin is not ready to recognize Joe Biden as the U.S President.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is waiting for the official announcement of the US Presidency before congratulating Joe Biden.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is waiting for the official announcement of the US Presidency before congratulating Joe Biden. In an interview with Rossiya-1 TV channel on Nov. 22, Vladimir Putin said that he was waiting for the presidential election's outcome to be officially legitimized before congratulating Democratic candidate Joe Biden. He asserts that the election results must be accepted by the opposition party or be finalized in any other legal way for the winner to be officially considered president-elect.

The US presidential elections 2020 were held on Nov. 3, and major US media outlets have declared Joe Biden's victory over incumbent Donald Trump as he won more than the required 270 votes to win the elections. However, Donald Trump has refused to concede this election to Joe Biden and has filed several cases on the election results' irregularities within swing states. Putin has announced that he has not yet congratulated the US presidential election's presumptive winner because there is a need to wait until all these legal issues are resolved. The Russian president added that he is willing to work with any US president and congratulate the election winner once the results are officially announced.
