The Tablighi Jamaat congregation was a terrorist plot to spread the coronavirus in the country and 2,500 coronavirus-infected members have been spreading the virus in different parts of the country.

Tablighi Jamaat attendees have been the main spreaders of the COVID19 in India, but there is no evidence that it was a terrorist plan to do so.

Tablighi Jamaat attendees have been the main spreaders of the COVID19 in India, but there is no evidence that it was a terrorist plan to do so.The Times Now news coverage says that the study by IIM-Rohtak team has said that the Tablighi Jamaat congregation has been a super spreader of the coronavirus in India.

As per The Economic Times, the Union Minister had said that the rise in confirmed cases in India would have been much lower if the Jamaat congregation had not taken place in Delhi.

According to the article by The New Indian Express, a Pakistani counter-terrorism and security expert had written in his analysis titled 'Tablighi Jamaat and its links with terrorism' that the Tablighi played the role of recruiter and sympathiser. It adds that he provided references linked to terrorist attacks around the world.

Though the members of Tablighi Jamaat have been the main reason for the increase in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in India, there is no official evidence or reports by the Indian government to verify whether the congregation took place with terrorist intent.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
