The California Department of Public Health banned indoor singing in places of worship to avoid chances of coronavirus transmission via exhaled air.

The California Department of Public Health banned indoor singing in places of worship to avoid chances of coronavirus transmission via exhaled air.The industry guidance for places of worship states that singing and chanting activities are discontinued. Indoor attendance is limited to 25% of building capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees in churches to avoid spreading the disease.

Local Health Officers are to consider appropriate limitations on both outdoor and indoor attendance capacities. Singing is proven to be a way of spreading the virus. Hence, California no longer allows singing in churches.
