The sale of Chinese goods declined by at least 20 percent during Diwali in 2019.

CAIT confirmed to Logically that after surveying in 21 cities across India, they found a 60% decline in sales during the 2019 Diwali season.

CAIT confirmed to Logically that after surveying in 21 cities across India, they found a 60% decline in sales during the 2019 Diwali season. A survey conducted by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) in 21 cities during the Diwali festival in 2019 showed that the sale of Chinese products decreased by about 60 percent during Diwali season. CAIT said that consumers now understood that Chinese goods, though maybe cheaper, have a very short shelf life. Moreover, around 85% of the traders agreed that they witnessed a decline in the sales of Chinese products during the Diwali festival, but some reports stated that there was a 20% and not a 60% decline. Logically reached out to Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary-General, CAIT, who confirmed over the phone that their survey had found a 60% decline in Chinese goods during the Diwali season in 2019.
