The list, released on October 28, 2021, revealed that Premji donated Rs 27 crores per day during the fiscal year and added that his contribution increased by one-fourth compared to the last year.

HCL's Shiv Nadar secured second place with contributions of ₹1,263 crores, followed by the country's richest man Mukesh Ambani, who donated ₹577 crores. The list also included Bollywood filmstar Amitabh Bacchan, India's second-richest person Goutam Adani, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, Rakesh Jhunjunwala, and others.

The list featured a total of seventeen Indian philanthropists. The EdelGive Hurun India noted that most contributions were made towards education, community projects, and disaster relief. India has the world's third-highest number of billionaires, after China and the U.S.
