Covaxin is the sixth vaccine to have been approved in Mexico.On April 7, 2021, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard confirmed that the Covaxin had been approved for emergency use in Mexico. Ebrard tweeted: "Very timely decision by COFEPRIS to authorize the emergency use of the COVAXIN vaccine manufactured in India. The options for vaccination against COVID-19 in Mexico are expanded !!!" Mexico has approved five other vaccines from other countries for its emergency use: AstraZeneca, Cansino, Pfizer, Sinovac, and Sputnik V. Bharat Biotech's Covaxin is the sixth vaccine. COFEPRIS [Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk] is the department that deals with the importation of medical devices and issues advertising permits for the products. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India has supplied 645.12 lakhs COVID-19 vaccines to 85 countries worldwide so far.
