The Secret Service has paid for their stay at Trump hotels while on duty to protect the President.

Trump's company has charged the Secret Service for the rooms agents use while protecting Trump as he traveled to his properties. According to the Office of Inspector General, United States Secret Service Expenses incurred huge expenses at Trump Turnberry Resort while on protective duty. This amount represented the operational and temporary duty costs associated with supporting the Secret Service personnel who traveled to Scotland before, during, and after the President’s visit. The Secret Service reportedly paid a sum of $9,662 to the Turnberry Resort for hotel rooms, golf carts, and logistical support. President Trump’s company charges the Secret Service for the rooms agents use while protecting him at his luxury properties — billing them as high as $650 per night, which the government is obliged to pay.

Meanwhile, in 2017, at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, the Secret Service was charged the $650 rate multiple times and a different $396.15 in 2018. At the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, the Secret Service was charged $17,000 a month to use a three-bedroom cottage on the property, an unusually high rent for homes in that area. These details were obtained by the Washington Post through the public record requests by news organizations and watchdog groups.

Receipts and documents obtained through the public record requests also show that the Secret Service was charged a total of $471,000 by Trump's properties between January 2017 and April 2018. The total cost during his entire tenure is likely much higher since the figures from the obtained documents only cover a portion of Trump's time in office.
