According to the guidelines issued by the UK government the person can drive through and get the tests done in the lab or can opt for the home kit.The U.K. government has issued guidelines where they stated that COVID-19 tests in the UK are carried out via many different routes. It can be carried out in laboratories, or home testing kits are delivered to people by post.

The BBC reported that initially it was required for people to have access to a car to reach the testing centres as there were very few testing centres. But now, they can ask for a home test kit which meant that people do not need access to a car. The test kits will be delivered to their homes via mail. The necessity for a car was not made mandatory by the government. This was the case as there was no public transport available after the lockdown measures were implemented and people needed to rely on private vehicles to get to the testing centres.
