Lata Mangeshkar recorded a bhajan for LK Advani's Rath Yatra.

Though Mangeshkar's song was played during BJP's Rath Yatra in 1990, we cannot verify whether she recorded it especially for the Yatra.

Though Mangeshkar's song was played during BJP's Rath Yatra in 1990, we cannot verify whether she recorded it especially for the Yatra. The claim that playback singer Lata Mangeshkar recorded a bhajan (devotional song) for L.K.Advani's Rath Yatra in 1990 organized is unverifiable. On September 25, 1990, to garner support for the demand for a Ram temple construction in Ayodhya, Advani launched a rath yatra from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya.

According to a Free Press Journal report, Mangeshkar recorded a devotional song, and actor Manoj Kumar recorded messages, which were played during the rally.

However, The Quint reports that a day before the Yatra was going to kick-start, actor Manoj Kumar handed over an audio cassette to Advani, which contained a Lata Mangeshkar song. The song, which was from a famous Hindi film, which became an unofficial anthem of the movement.

The Yatra, which was supposed to end in Ayodhya, ended before time in Bihar on October 23, 1990, with Advani’s arrest.

Though Lata Mangeshkar’s song was used as a de facto anthem during the BJP rally, it is not clear if it was specially recorded by her for the Yatra or was taken from a movie. Therefore, the claim is unverifiable.
