During the renovations, the West Wing and Oval Office restrooms were renovated. According to the White House, the facilities had not been updated in about 40 years. The planned infrastructure improvements addressed safety concerns and included durable materials and finishes.

Other than the West Wing and Oval Office, major renovations were made to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, the White House Grounds, the Executive Residence, and the East Building.

In Dec. last year, Trump said he was looking into solving a conservation issue in the White House premises by fixing restroom fixtures like showers and faucets since they used a lot of water. He said the Environmental Protection Agency was looking “very strongly at my suggestion.”
