Communism, a political and economic system that seeks to create a classless society, is irreligious
The World Population Review lists five countries, including China, Cuba, Laos, North Korea, and Vietnam, that practice communism.
The Communist Party of China is the founding and sole governing political party of the People's Republic of China. The party attempts to control or eradicate every religion within its borders. For instance, in 2018, the Chinese Government imposed harsh policies against unregistered Christian churches, Uyghur Muslims, Tibetan Buddhists and Falun Gong practitioners. In 2016 Chinese President and Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping launched a "sinicization" campaign to manage, control, and even transform Chinese citizens' religious practices.
Most communist regimes have sought to purge the faith of their citizens.
