Dubai is set to start commercial operations of Air taxis by the year 2022.Many cities worldwide are evaluating the viability of urban air mobility or UAM to tackle traffic congestion. The project is in the pilot stage as more cities collaborate with vehicle companies such as Volocopter and EHang to explore the possibilities and check the practicality. Flight tests have been conducted in Paris, Dubai, Helsinki, Stuttgart, and Singapore.

Dubai has already conducted several flight tests and demonstrations. According to a report by Frost and Sullivan, Dubai is set to launch its commercial operations in 2022 and will be the first mover. UAE’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has already carried out advanced tests and is planning the flight routes of UAM. Almost 50 cities around the globe are evaluating the prospects, and UAE, New Zealand, and Singapore are expected to be early adopters.
