
Mamata Banerjee lost the election by a slim margin of 1,956 votes against Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP in Nandigram, West Bengal.
Despite her party's landslide victory, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee lost the election fight in Nandigram against her protege-turned-rival Suvendu Adhikari from BJP. The Election Commission website showed that she lost by 1,956 votes after the final tally of votes. TMC party had approached the Chief Electoral Office for immediate re-counting alleging illegalities in the vote-counting process, but the Returning officer denied the request.
