The Chinese government has reportedly allowed some wet markets in the country to reopen as the threat of the contagion lessens, although the one in Wuhan remains shuttered.

WHO-China Joint Mission report outlines the main reason for threat reduction in China is due to the control measures implemented by the Chinese government and the cooperation of Chinese people towards its government (Refer to page no:17). The report also states that Case Fatality Rate (CFR) which was 17.3% on 1 Jan 2020 has reduced to 0.7% on 1 Feb 2020 (Refer to page no:12).

The journal published on International Journal of Infectious Diseases reveals that the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market was closed on 1 January 2020 for sanitary procedures and disinfection. The Wuhan government did not release orders to reopen the market.
