Reliance Jio network, which was launched in 2016, supports only 4G services.Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited is an Indian multi-billion dollar telecom venture company launched as a part of Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) on September 2, 2016. RIL had acquired a chunk of 4G spectrum in 2010 and turned that spectrum into a vast nationwide 4G network. Jio does not offer 2G service and instead uses only voice over LTE to provide voice service over its 4G network.

The RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani had said on the launch date that the Jio network is running entirely on 4G, which requires a 4G compatible phone with VoLTE support. Recently the company got a huge investment of $10 billion and has transformed itself into India's only pure-play 4G service provider.
