Due to the blockade by farmers at the national highways 9 and 24, the Delhi Police had to map alternative routes for people using the highways.
Thousands of farmers staying put at the Ghazipur Border under a flyover started gathering with tractors at the NH-9 on Dec. 3, 2020, leading to traffic disruption from Ghaziabad to Delhi. Later the farmers blockaded the highway, and the authorities were forced to divert the traffic.
On December 3, 2020, police closed two national highways connecting Ghaziabad to Delhi, National Highway 9 and National Highway 24. The farmers picketed the two highways and continued their demand to dismiss the new farm laws.
The Delhi Traffic Police had tweeted to inform passengers about alternative routes open for traveling to the neighboring states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
