In 2016, India's e-commerce sales totaled $15.27 billion and 65.3% of all retail e-commerce sales. Those figures are $63.53 billion and 80.0% of the calculation period. Almost two-thirds of India's e-commerce purchases were via a mobile device in 2016.
Alibaba's shopping platforms exceeded the previous year's 213.5 billion yuan record (nearly $30.5 billion) in 2019.
The Indian e-commerce market is expected to grow to US$ 200 billion by 2026 from US$ 38.5 billion by 2017. The growth for the industry has been an increase in internet and smartphone invasion.
