The key components in COVID-19 test kits ordered from Eurofins that were to be sent to the UK were found to be contaminated with coronavirus.The Daily Express and Fox News, citing The Telegraph, state that 'Eurofins Scientific', a Luxembourg based supplier, informed the UK government laboratories that delivery of key probes and primers for coronavirus tests would be delayed after traces of the coronavirus was found on the supplies. The Express adds that the senior UK health sources told The Telegraph that the delay would not significantly affect the testing regime.

According to The Telegraph article 30 March 2020, the UK Government had asked private companies to help drive up test kits production to boost the rate of tests every day. The UK laboratories were told that the overseas deliveries of coronavirus testing kits would be delayed as core parts of the kits had been contaminated with the virus.
