Almost 34,000 trees are proposed to be removed in Bengaluru as part of the 8-line peripheral ring road project.According to the draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report for the 8-Lane Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), nearly 34000 trees would be destroyed in Bengaluru. Moreover, the PRR project would make a diversion of 10.12 hectares of Jarakabande Reserve Forest. Furthermore, the Forest officials have clarified that the mass removal of trees in the TG Halli catchment area would affect the habitat, hydrology, and water quality within the area.
