Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ashok Gasti died due to COVID-19 on September 17, 2020.Ashok Gasti was an Indian politician and a lawyer from Raichur, Karnataka. He was a Member of Parliament who represented Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha for less than three months. He previously served as the general secretary of the BJP's OBC Cell and served as the chairman of the State Backward Class Development Corporation. He tested positive for COVID-19 in September 2020. He was hospitalized at Manipal Hospital, and by September 17, he was in critical condition with severe pneumonia and multi-organ failure. The hospital director confirmed that he died at 10:31 p.m. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences at Gasti's death.
