A 20-year woman accused four men including a BJP leader of gang-rape. BJP condemned the incident and expelled the accused. According to Shahdol Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mukesh Vaish, on February 18, a 20-year woman was abducted, held in captivity at a farmhouse and gang-raped by four men. The alleged abduction took place when the survivor had gone to buy groceries.

The ASP disclosed that the survivor was forced to drink liquor at the farmhouse before being gang-raped for two consecutive days. On February 20, she was found in an unconscious state after being dumped near her house by the accused. The survivor filed a complaint on the following day, February 21. She remains critical at a district hospital.

As reported by the police, the four accused have been identified as Jaitpur Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Vijay Tripathi, a school teacher, Rajesh Shukla, and two natives, Munna Singh and Monu Maharaj. Although a first information report has been filed, the four men remain absconding. Political party BJP condemned the alleged incident and issued a statement stating Vijay Tripathi's removal from Jaitpur BJP chief and party membership.
