Ottawa police have categorically denied reports of their personnel having resigned in support of the truckers' convoy protests.Thousands of truckers in Canada have been protesting under the banner of Freedom Convoy 2022 against the vaccine mandate required to cross the U.S. border. The protestors have laid a siege on Parliament Hill for days. The protest has led to widespread misinformation online, including a false claim promoted by Pat King, a Canadian resident. He claimed during a Facebook livestream that "50 percent of the Ottawa police force have all turned in their resignation today," suggesting that police too were supporting the protests. However, the claim is entirely false.
According to Associated Press, Ottawa Police officials have outrightly denied any such move by the police. Ottawa's mayor, Jim Watson, has also confirmed that no resignations had been reported to the mayor's office. CNN's reporter Daniel Dawe tweeted that there have been no resignations, according to Ottawa police. Incidentally, Pat King has a history of promoting conspiracy theories and spreading fake claims. Hence we mark the claim as false.
