Clarification issued by the Gujarat Health & Family Welfare Department and a letter by the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital refutes the claim.The Health Department of Gujarat in a tweet on 15 April 2020 clarified that no segregation was done in the Ahmedabad Civil hospital based on religion. It added that COVID-19 patients are kept in different wards based on their medical condition, the severity of the symptoms and age, purely based on the advice of treating Doctors.

Prof. Dr G H Rathod, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Ahmedabad also clarified that recently created COVID-19 wards at Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad are not segregating the patients based on faith. He added that the patients are admitted and kept in respective wards based on gender, their medical conditions and based on their corona status (positive/negative/suspected).
