Javvad Malik said, "It could be that bad actors have gained access to the passwords of Houseparty users and using those passwords against other websites."

Tweets by Houseparty through its official Twitter account contradicts the statement made by Javvad Malik, Security Awareness Advocate at KnowBe4.

Tweets by Houseparty through its official Twitter account contradicts the statement made by Javvad Malik, Security Awareness Advocate at KnowBe4.The users of Houseparty (social networking application) had raised complaints that their bank accounts and other applications in their mobile phone were hacked after downloading the Houseparty application. Javvad Malik in an exclusive statement to The Sun said that there is a chance for hackers to gain access to the passwords of Houseparty users and use the same password to hack bank accounts added in money transfer applications.

In a series of tweets on 31 March 2020, Houseparty denies the complaints by stating that rumours of the accounts being hacked are an act of paid commercial to damage the reputation of the company by false accusations and would offer a $1 million reward to whoever could prove its theory. Further, the company also added that all the Houseparty accounts are secured, has never been compromised and does not collect passwords for other sites.

However, as for now, there is no proof that there was a breach, nor proof that it a rumour of paid commercial against the goodwill of the company.
