Delhi High Court dismissed the PIL that sought to halt the Central Vista project and imposed Rs 1 lakh fine to the petitioners.
The court rejected the plea stating that the project is of national importance where the sovereign function of Parliament is conducted, and the public is widely interested in the project. The bench noted that the workers are allowed to stay at the site, and all the COVID-19 protocols are followed, and hence there was no need to halt the construction. In fact, the court directed to complete the project in a time-bound manner.
The project envisages the construction of buildings to house the Prime Minister, Vice President, and offices of various ministries.
