The family of the injured Indian soldier, Surendra Singh, shared the details of their telephonic conversation with their son, with the media. An Indian soldier named Surendra Singh from Naugawa Rajasthan was injured during the face-off between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley on June 15, 2020. He was admitted to the Sainik Hospital in Ladakh, and after he regained consciousness, he recalled the entire incident. Surendra Singh had called his family and told them that he was doing well in the hospital and had also told them what happened during the skirmish.

Mr. Singh's father and wife subsequently spoke to the media and said that Surendra Singh's patrol party was surrounded by Chinese soldiers who wielded different kinds of handheld weapons and attacked the patrol party. The Indian side, despite being allegedly outnumbered, fought back bravely to defend their country, as quoted by the family. Surendra Singh's brother is also said to have spoken to the media and shared the telephonic conversation between him and his injured brother. The brother, Reshma Singh also confirmed that the Indian patrol party was unarmed while the Chinese soldiers had rods, barbed wires, canes, and other kinds of weapons.

All these reports are based on the conversation details revealed by the family of the injured soldier. There are no accounts of Surendra Singh himself talking to the media about the border clash with China.
