Press release by the Ayush confirms that MoHFW, Ayush and CSIR are going to conduct a joint clinical study on four ayurvedic formulations.Ayush Ministry said that clinical research studies on Ayurveda interventions like Ashwagandha, Yashtimadhu, Guduchi Pippali and Ayush 64 will be conducted by the Ministry of Ayush, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Science & Technology through Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) with the technical support of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to assess the efficacy of Ayurvedic drugs as a preventive intervention among healthcare professionals and high-risk COVID-19 population.

The Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that the medicines will be given to health workers, other persons working in high-risk areas and to those who are infected with COVID-19. The Health Minister also said that the clinical trial will be done in addition to the current standard care provided for COVID-19 patients.
