The reports published by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the World Health Organisation disproves the statement.

The reports published by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the World Health Organisation disproves the statement. The local news articles and social media posts have been circulated with a claim that the Russian Ministry of Health confirmed the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), is a man-made virus.

The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation released a report regarding novel coronavirus stating that the virus is suspected to be a recombinant virus between bat coronavirus and an unknown origin coronavirus (Ref page no. 05). But, the report has nowhere mentioned that the virus is artificial.

A video by ANI shows that Chinese Ambassador to India Sun Weidong in a press conference said that the novel coronavirus originated from nature, and it is not manmade. The World Health Organisation's report also mentioned that that COVID-19 virus has a DNA identity of 96% to a bat. (Ref page no.04)

By these reports, it can be concluded that Russia’s Ministry of Health had not made any such statement that COVID-19 is a man-made virus.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
