Statement by Rewa Inspector General of Police, Chanchal Shekhar confirmed that Rajkumar Mishra was attached in the line for hitting temple priest.The Facebook post by the Inspector General(IG) of Police, Rewa district dated 1 April 2020, said that the police officer in some pictures related to a priest and temple of Rewa district is not SP Abid Khan but inspector of police Rajkumar Mishra. The cop reportedly hit a priest and this action was taken to implement the lockdown after they noticed the gathering of people in the temple. The IG added that Mishra has been taken off duty and sub-inspector Shivpujan Singh Bishan has been made in-charge of the police station.

The news article reports that the Madhya Pradesh government had removed a station house officer Rajkumar Mishra after he was caught thrashing a priest at a temple in Rewa district. The priest had reportedly organised a puja on Ramnavmi despite prohibitive orders in place due to the COVID-19 threat.

Jansampark MP, the official Twitter handle of the Department of Public Relation had tweeted a Rewa district IG Facebook post on 3 April 2020 that action had been taken on the notice of a mob gathering during the lockdown. Due to the improper action, the police station in-charge Rajkumar Mishra was attached in the line.
