Preventing the spread of COVID-19 and disinfecting the public places across Bengaluru as a precautionary measure, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on 24 March 2020, took up massive sanitisation drive in central parts of Bengaluru, especially around the Krishna Rajendra Market area.

Anil Kumar IAS on 23 March 2020, said that disinfectants would be sprayed throughout the city by using drones to sanitize public spaces and mechanical sweepers will be deployed for intensive cleaning.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP) had sprayed disinfectants by using drones and sweeping machines in the city’s thoroughfares, markets, offices, and places where COVID-19 positive cases have been reported. Meanwhile, BBMP Mayor M. Goutham Kumar had said that Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board(BWSSB) has been provided 10 jetting machines, each with a 7,000-litre capacity to disinfect the areas to control the spread of the pandemic. The jetting machines were used at Hudson Circle, Town Hall, Krishna Rajendra Market and surrounding areas.
