Search engine Google reported an increase in the number of searches in the U.S. for ‘How to apply for Canadian citizenship’ on Sept. 29, as the country watched the first presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, which was full of interruptions, people speaking over each other, and insults hurled back and forth.

According to The Guardian, the search for 'how to apply for Canadian citizenship' increased about an hour after the debate. It was at a peak at around 10.30 pm. The search was most popular in the state of Massachusetts, Washington, and Michigan.
