A video uploaded by the ANI news and the official website of Break your own news refutes the claim.Social media users have shared an image which quotes a claim attributed to a rape-accused priest named Franco Mulakkal. Upon close observation of the image that appears to be a screenshot from ANI news, its top-right corner says 'breakyourownnews.com'. The homepage of that website shows a sample of how fake breaking news can be created using their web tool.

A thumbnail of the bishop from an ANI news interview has been pasted in the background with the required texts added to make the image look legit. The thumbnail has been taken from an interview of the priest which has been posted on Youtube by ANI on 11 September 2018.

Alt News has also fact-checked the claim and declared it as false. they have also found that this claim first surfaced on a twitter account named 'Unpaid Times' which identifies itself as a satirical news website.
