There are rivers and lakes beneath the ocean.

The research done by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration confirms that rivers and lakes are found at the bottom of the oceans.

The research done by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration confirms that rivers and lakes are found at the bottom of the oceans. The lakes and rivers form when seawater seeps up through thick layers of salt, which are present beneath the seafloor. As the water seeps up, it dissolves the salt layer, causing it to collapse and form holes. The dissolved salt makes the water denser, which will settle into a depression, forming a river or lake. These underwater lakes and rivers can be as small as a few feet across or as large as a few miles long. In 2018, the scientists have discovered a 'lake' in the Gulf of Mexico, which contains highly toxic concentrations of methane and hydrogen sulfide, but it does not mix with the surrounding sea. For the animals that swim into it can be deadly, only bacterial life, tube worms, and shrimp can survive in those circumstances.
