Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not directly name Rahul Gandhi, but he indirectly digs at the 50-year-old Congress leader. An engineering student introduced her project on ‘How to help dyslexic children’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Smart India Hackathon held on March 2-3 2019, at India Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. The student cited an example of the Bollywood movie 'Taare Zameen Par’, and explained how her project could help dyslexic children. To this, Prime Minister Modi interrupted and asked if the same could help a 40 to 50-year-old child. Then the student replied yes, to which Modi responded, ‘the mothers of such children will be happy in that case’.
Modi drew flak from the opposition for his remark, who claimed that Prime Minister was referring to senior Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi. The National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD), an organization that works for the welfare of the disabled, asked the Prime Minister to apologize and said that ‘under no circumstances should make such a remark’.
Though it is clear that Prime Minister took an indirect dig at Rahul Gandhi, however, he did not name the Congress leader.
