The incubation period of COVID-19 is longer for children than adults.

The CDC states that the incubation period of COVID-19 for both adults and children is between two to 14 days.

The incubation period of a viral infection is the time between when you first catch the virus and when you first start showing symptoms. The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that the incubation period of COVID-19 is the same for adults and children. Once exposed to the virus, the symptoms can be apparent within two to 14 days. The average time it takes for the symptoms to show is six days.

According to the CDC, COVID-19 symptoms in children include fever, fatigue, headache and myalgia. The health agency has revealed that, although children are less likely than adults to fall sick with COVID-19 adults, they can spread the virus to others. DW news reported critical findings from a study conducted by the University of Vienna. The study stated that children could be silent spreaders of the virus and that "more than six times" as many children had contracted COVID-19 than previously assumed. Further, despite being frequently infected by COVID-19, children rarely showed symptoms of the virus and therefore could unknowingly spread the virus.

In May 2021, the United States authorized the Pfizer vaccine for children between 12 and 15 years. Additionally, as of June 14, 2021, the country has vaccinated 51% of everyone over 12 years of age.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19, including symptoms, prevention, and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organization or your national healthcare authority.
