The campaign of Har Ghar Tiranga is observed from August 13 to August 15, 2022. Arvind Kejriwal urged Delhi residents to hold it on August 14, 2022.
India is celebrating its 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2022. The government has organized several events during this event under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.' The theme would be 'Nation First, Always First,' and it also aims to hoist 200 million national flags on this special occasion.
An Instagram user, Nation With Namo, shared a video of Arvind Kejriwal with a caption that read, "Kejriwal asks people to hoist the Tiranga on August 14. Why would an Indian honour Pak's Independence Day?" The post caption also reads, "Only an anti-national would celebrate Pak's independence day!"
However, this is inaccurate. Kejriwal urged to celebrate 'Har Ghar Tiranga' by holding national flags on August 14, 2022, not to celebrate Pakistan's Independence Day.
The Hindustan Times article says Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav during his 91 Mann Ki Baat program episode on July 31, 2022. He highlighted that people are celebrating this occasion with different mass movements. Under this Mahotsav, a "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign is held between August 13 to August 15, 2022, and suggested people update their social media profile pictures with the tricolor.
On August 5, 2022, in a press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged Delhiites to celebrate 75 years of independence on the eve of Independence Day by singing the national anthem, holding Tiranga, or the tricolor flag in their hands at 5 pm. He said that the government would provide 25 lakhs of flags to everyone who could not afford to buy them to show their patriotism. While singing the national anthem, they should promise to make India the strongest country in the world.
The Hindu, quoting Arvind Kejriwal, reports, "Every student will be given a Tiranga in government schools so they can hoist them at home. I will also sing the National Anthem with the National Flag in my hand on August 14, the eve of Independence Day; there will be around 100 different celebrations across Delhi."
India celebrates its 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign through different mass movements from August 13 to August 15. The Delhi CM organized it on August 14, but not to honor Pakistan's Independence day. So we mark the claim to be misleading.
