The state guidelines make it compulsory for MLM companies to have an office in Kerala.
Direct selling is selling products directly to consumers away from a fixed retail location generally, in their homes, workplace, or online. It is one of the oldest modes of sales. The industry has created a positive impact as a viable source of income generation.
The Kerala Government has set up a monitoring mechanism for regulating the business of Direct Selling and Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) for preventing fraud and protecting the rights and interests of consumers. Clause 2.8 states that Direct Selling Entity must ensure compliance and should have an office with identified jurisdiction of its operation in the State. It will enable the consumers and direct sellers to familiarise themselves with the price of products, return or replacement of products and efficient delivery of goods and services, and post-sale redressal of grievances.
