A Facebook post by the IG Rewa confirms that the police officer seen hitting the priest was not SP Abid Khan but TI Rajkumar Mishra.
A photograph of a policeman thrashing down a Hindu priest has been widely shared by several social media users claiming that the cop was Superintendent of Police (SP) of Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, Abid Khan.
The Inspector-General of Police of Rewa Range through a Facebook post on 2 April 2020 said that the police officer in the photograph is not SP Abid Khan but inspector of police (TI) Rajkumar Mishra. Further, the statement adds that Mishra has been taken off duty and sub-inspector Shivpujan Singh Bishan has been appointed as the new TI of the police station.
The Business Standard article had also explained that IG of Police Chanchal Shekhar identified the cop who allegedly hit a temple priest while enforcing the lockdown as Civil Line police station in-charge Rajkumar Mishra. He also stated that Rajkumar Mishra was improper in his duty and he was removed from field duty as a form of punishment.
