A Pakistani leader was killed in celebratory firing after he was released from a hospital following his recovery from Covid-19.

The News reports confirm that the incident took place in Jordan and the person killed was not a Pakistani leader.

A post along with a video is being shared on social media claiming that a Pakistani leader was killed in celebratory firing after he was released from a hospital following his recovery from Coronavirus.

Upon conducting a reverse image search, we found an article by Aljazeera dated 18 April 2020 which said that the incident took place in the town of Amrawah in Jordan, Amman and the victim was identified as Sari Salem Warda. He had been serving an eight-month prison sentence for carrying an unlicensed weapon and resisting arrest. He was shot dead by a distant cousin during celebratory gunfire, the day he was released from prison.

The news was also carried by Middle East Monitor on 20 April 2020 which stated that Sari was released two weeks before the end of his sentence as part of government measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
