The Indian government is planning to reimpose lockdown in some parts of India.

The Prime Minister has asked the 7 most affected states to focus on micro containment zones to stop the spread of the virus.

India is the second worst-hit in the world after the US with a daily tally of corona cases rising since August. PM Modi held a virtual meeting with the Chief Ministers of seven states with the highest number of coronavirus cases to assess the emerging situation caused by the pandemic. He asked the heads of states to reassess if lockdowns of one or two days are effective in containing coronavirus and told to support economic activities while fighting the virus fully. He said that micro containment zones should be the way forward to control the spreading of the infection and to focus on effective testing, tracing, treatment, surveillance. However, he did not hint on imposing lockdowns in any part of India.
