Nurses are not provided with proper protective equipment and a nurse quit her job after being asked to work in a COVID-19 unit without a mask in the United States.

A video posted by a Chicago nurse and a press release by the National Nurses United proves Nurses have to work without proper protective equipment.

The video by nurse Imaris Vera shows her saying that she quit her job because nurses were not provided protective masks and that she was asked to tend to patients in the COVID-19 unit. She adds that she was not allowed to wear her own N95 mask to work either.

A press release by the National Nurses United has stated that registered nurses at 15 HCA Healthcare hospitals in seven states in the country protested due to lack of COVID-19 preparedness. It says that nurses were told to unsafely reuse masks and not to wear masks because it scared the patients.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.
