About 10.4 million Americans filed for unemployment in the last two weeks of March in the U.S.

News Release by the United States Department of Labor confirms that 10 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits in 2 weeks of March 2020.

As per the release dated April 2, 2020, the seasonally adjusted data of unemployment initial claims for the week ending March 21 were 3,307,000 while for March 28 was 6,648,000. It stated that nearly all the states provided comments citing COVID-19 as the main trigger for the increase in numbers.
