A picture of Narendra Modi greeting Deepika Mondal was misattributed and claimed to show he bowed before Gautam Adani's wife, Priti Adani.
Several social media users posted a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcoming a woman, claiming to be Priti Adani, Gautam Adani's wife, the billionaire industry leader. After a reverse image search, it was discovered that the woman in the image with Modi is Deepika Mondal but not Priti Adani. Mondal is the Chief Executive of an NGO named Divya Jyoti Cultural and Social Organization. The photograph was clicked in 2015 when PM Modi took part in an event conducted by the NGO. Other reports also shared photos of the same woman with other prominent figures, including late former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and Vidya Balan. We have reviewed the website of Divyajyothi culture organization and welfare society and verified that their Chief Officer's name is Deepika Mondol. Other images were circulating online, claiming that Modi was bowing in front of Adani's wife. All those posts are falsely claiming that the women in the picture to be Gautam Adani's wife.
