The promotion of Patanjali Ayurveda's Coronil tablet has been stopped by the Indian Government.

The Ministry of AYUSH asked Baba Ramdev to stop the promotion for the medicine as it has not been approved by the government.

Baba Ramdev launched a new medicine called 'Coronil' claiming to be a cure for COVID-19. He claimed that 69 percent of the patients recovered in 3 days, while a 100 percent recovery was seen in seven days. Within hours of the launch, the Ministry of AYUSH asked Baba Ramdev to stop the promotion for the medicine.

The Ministry of AYUSH has sought details about the medicine and requested the concerned State Licensing Authority of the Uttarakhand Government to provide copies of license and product approval details. It has directed Patanjali and Ramdev to stop advertising such claims and said that facts of the claim and details of the stated scientific study are not known to the Ministry yet. The Ministry had also issued a Gazette Notification on 21st April 2020, stating the requirements and how the research studies on COVID-19 should be handled.

The Minister of AYUSH Shripad Naik confirmed that the government had asked Patanjali Ayurveda to stop the promotion and submit the necessary documents for verification. Once verified and approved, Patanjali can resume the promotion campaign of the medicine.
