Top Indian cities witnessed a significant drop in their rankings in the global listing of smart cities.

109 cities were surveyed in April, and May 2020 and citizens were asked questions on the technological provisions of their city across five key areas. Based on the inputs, the key findings were released by the Institute for Management Development in collaboration with the Singapore University. The report said that the Indian cities were unprepared due to corona pandemic. The 2020 Smart City Index rankings were based on technological advancement in tackling the challenges which most of the Indian cities were lacking.
