The Income Tax Department will share PAN and bank account details of any entity with ten investigative and intelligence agencies under NATGRID.
The Income Tax Department will share PAN and bank account details of any entity with ten investigative and intelligence agencies, including the CBI and the NIA, under the National Intelligence Grid(NATGRID). The order was released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes, which frames the Income Tax Department's policy. It stated that information like a permanent account number(PAN), Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number(TAN), bank account details, a summary of IT Returns and tax deducted at source(TDS) and other information would mutually be agreed and shared with the ten agencies under the National Intelligence Grid(NATGRID). Likewise, a formal Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) was signed on July 20, 2020, between the Central Board of Direct Taxes and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises for sharing of data.
The ten agencies are the Central Bureau of Investigation, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Enforcement Directorate, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, Cabinet Secretariat, Intelligence Bureau, Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Narcotics Control Bureau, Financial Intelligence Unit and the National Investigation Agency.
