Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and George Soros have been falsely linked several times.

Since mid-2020, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has been falsely linked to billionaire and philanthropist George Soros multiple times. In 2020 posts surfaced claiming Whitmer is Soros' niece, which is not true. Recently, some people claimed that Whitmer used to work for Sorors. However, that is not true. We looked at Whitmer's biography and found that before joining politics, Whitmer worked as a prosecutor for Ingham County and a corporate litigator for the law firm of Dickinson Wright. During her time in the House, Whitmer served as a policy analyst. On the other hand, Soros is chair of Soros Fund Management LLC, one of history’s most successful financiers. He is also a prominent philanthropist, and his organization, the Open Society Foundations, supports democracy and human rights in more than 100 countries.
